Atlanta, GA- Morehouse honored its senior volleyball players,
Collin Concepcion and
Bryce Pretlow, before falling to Fort Valley State University in straight sets, 7-25, 14-25, 7-25.
After dropping the first set, the Maroon Tigers took a 3-2 lead early in the second set. The Wildcats responded by scoring seven unanswered points. With Fort Valley leading 21-8 late in the set, the Maroon Tigers scored on six out of nine plays, highlighted by freshman Nasir Barnes' kill. However, the Wildcats scored on the next play for a 25-14 win.
The Maroon Tigers were not as competitive in the final set. Fort Valley State scored 14 unanswered points to open the set. After the Maroon Tigers scored three points, the Wildcats went on another run, scoring another six unanswered points. Concepcion had a key block and assist during Morehouse's own 4-1 run, but Fort Valley State closed the game out on freshman Oshane Farquharson's kill.
Junior Williams Babalola led the Maroon Tigers with three kills. Concepcion led the team with three blocks and eight assists.
The loss drops the Maroon Tigers to 0-14. Morehouse visits Central State University on April 8 at 6:00 p.m.
