ATLANTA, GA – The Maroon Tigers were unable to bounce back against the Saints after dropping the first game of a doubleheader. Morehouse lost all three sets of Game #2, 25-11, 25-16, 25-8.
The second set against Maryville was Morehouse's most competitive of the day. After falling behind 3-11, the Maroon Tigers scored five points in the next seven plays, reducing their deficit to five. But consecutive aces by Maryville's Armin Ahmethodzic and a kill by freshman David Fleischer closed out the set for the Saints.
Maryville began the last set with the first eight points. Morehouse senior
Bryce Pretlow cut the lead to five with his ace, but it was all Maryville after that. The Saints scored on 13 of the next 14 plays. Saints' freshman Ethan Beyreis-Heim closed out the game with three consecutive aces.
Collin Concepcion and
Williams Babalola each finished with a kill for the Maroon Tigers. Pretlow and Osco Williams III each finished with one ace.
The Maroon Tigers fall to 0-8. The team will look to regroup when they travel to Fort Valley State University on March 18
th, game time is at 6pm.
