Maroon Tigers Drop Both Games In Doubleheader Against Miles

Fairfield, Ala. – The Maroon Tigers fell to Miles College in both games of a doubleheader on Saturday, 5-12 and 3-18.

Game 1:
Morehouse's Jaylen Greene and David Coleman II were responsible for batting runs in early, giving the Maroon Tigers a 2-0 lead. Miles's James Bitner, however, tied the game to two runs each with a home run to left field.

Morehouse's Derrick Odom once again gave the Maroon Tigers the lead with his solo home run at the top of the fourth inning. The Golden Bears responded by scoring eight unanswered runs, culminated by Miles's Max Davenport's triple in the bottom of the sixth inning. Both teams scored two more runs in the seventh inning for a final score of 5-12.

Game 2:
Miles came out as the early aggressor, scoring the game's first three runs in the opening inning. The Maroon Tigers tied the game in the third behind junior Daylun Powe-Salters's double; his double allowed Greene and sophomores Jaiden Proper and Alan Brown to score.

Miles put the game away in the fifth and sixth innings. The Golden Bears scored 15 unanswered runs in the two innings, including a grand slam by senior William Johnson.

The two losses drop Morehouse to 2-8 on the year. The Maroon Tigers will look to bounce back for a makeup game in a double header against Spring Hill on Wednesday Mar 9.
