Atlanta, GA- The Maroon Tigers fall short to Tuskegee, 76-69, on Saturday afternoon at Forbes Arena.
Morehouse started off the game with a two pointer from
Andrew Stewart and quickly took a 14 point lead over the Golden Tigers. At 3:40, the Golden Tigers would break that 14 point lead down to only two points with a jump shot by Kusamae Draper, 24-22, but that would quickly turn around when Tuskegee hit a three pointer taking the lead away from Morehouse, 25-24. Both the teams would go back and forth on who would finish the first half with the advantage over the other team. With only .56 seconds left in the first half, Morehouse would take back the lead back with a dunk by
Christian Lamar but the Golden Tigers quickly responded with a 3 pointer from Gregg Boyd tying up the score 28-28, but a foul by
Robert Dix would give the Golden Tigers the possession and they would finish the first half with a three a pointer from D'Anthony Pennington, 31-28.
The two teams battled it out in the second half, with the lead changing four times. Ultimately, Tuskegee guard Gregg Boyd secured the 7 point lead over the Maroon Tiges with back to back made free throws. With the last .24 seconds of the game, the Maroon Tigers were down 76-69. In the last-chance effort, the Maroon Tigers put up multiple attempts at scoring, but all attempts were missed giving Tuskegee the win.
Senior Gregg Boyd would carry his team with 40 points.
Robert Dix would carry the Maroon Tigers with 17 points, followed behind him was
Elijah Stewart who had 14 points and
Andrew Stewart who finished with 13 points.
The Maroon Tigers next game will be on the road as they travel to LeMoyne-Owen on December 15
th, tip-off at 7pm.
