Atlanta, GA- The Maroon Tigers defended homecourt valiantly against the visiting Harvard University Crimson in their first-ever game at John A MacAfee court in Forbes Arena. Harvard defeated the Maroon Tigers 68-63 in a tightly contested second half. In the first half, the Crimson started early, capitalizing off their size; they would have little issue scoring in the paint.
Harvard forward Chris Ledlum would lead all scorers at the half with 12 points. Even with a short rotation of players, the Maroon Tigers could still get open shots against the Crimson defense. However, they would still trail the Crimson 47-27. Coming into the second half, the Maroon Tigers would not waste any time going on a 17-5 run, cutting the lead to eight with a three in the corner from Morehouse guard Joel Mcnair.
A few possessions later, Morehouse guard Andrew Stewart would hit another three in the corner to bring the lead to six. With three minutes remaining, the Maroon Tigers cut the lead down to four after an and-one from Mohamad Diallo. With about one minute remaining, the score was 67-63, as the Crimson would get the stop after a Maroon, the Crimson would get the stop they needed, and Ledlum would close out the game with a free throw.
Indeed, a great game by both teams. The Maroon Tigers play their next game at Talladega College in Talladega, Al, this Saturday, Nov. 12, at 2 pm.
