Atlanta, GA- It's that time again, basketball season is back, and we are kicking off the 2022-23 season against Talladega College, Nov 2, tip off at 7pm.
Morehouse College students, faculty, and staff will have free entry with their Morehouse ID. Tickets for the general public are being sold at the Forbes Arena ticket booth for $10 starting at 6:00pm. Doors also open at 6:00pm
A recap of the '21-22 season, Coach Doug Whittler had an impressive first year as the interim head coach and later would be offered the head coach position. Coach Whittler became the interim head coach after the passing of late Coach Grady Brewer.
In his first season, Whittler guided the Maroon Tigers to a 21-7 record and a 15-2 SIAC mark, helping the Maroon and White claim its 13th conference regular-season title. As a result, Morehouse earned its sixth No.1 seed in the SIAC tournament.
The Maroon Tigers had a historical 18 game win streak tying the all-time win streak in school history and Whittler is the only Morehouse coach to win 21 games in his first season.
*Morehouse Athletics has lifted their mask mandate but will be implementing the clear bag policy.
To enhance existing security measures and expedite venue entry at Morehouse Athletics events, a "Clear Bag Policy" is being implemented that regulates the size and type of bag that may be carried into venues. The Clear Bag Policy is effective on November 2nd, 2022 and will be in place for the first basketball home game.
- Bags that are clear plastic and do not exceed 12" x 6" x 12"
- One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags
- Small clutch bags or purses do not have to be clear but cannot exceed 4.5" x 6.5"
Bags not permitted include:
- Backpacks, printed pattern plastic bags, fanny packs, purses, reusable grocery totes, mesh or straw bags, duffle bags, large totes, camera, or binocular cases.
- Diaper bags are not allowed. Items normally carried in a diaper bag must be put into a clear plastic bag for venue entry.
