Young Harris, GA- Morehouse improved to 1-1 on the season as they rallied in second half to defeat Young Harris 79-72.
Kerry Richardson scored 16 points for the Marron Tigers.
D'aunte Johnson added 13 points of the night and
Olisa Akonobi chipped in 12 points.
Morehouse led nearly the entire way but gradually allowed Young Harris to get back into the game. A pair of free throws by Karl Chavis gave Young Harris a 40-34 lead with last .20 second of the first half. Morehouse started off the second half rocky by letting Young Harris drop nothing but threes on them and eventually lost their lead for the rest of the time until the last remaining 2:50 of the game when Richardson made two free throws for the Maroon Tigers taking the lead by two points 72-69. Andrew Stewart,
Jordan Sterling took a three and made it with the assist of
Elijah Stewart causing a five-point lead. As the last minute of the game hit the intensity and passion of the basketball team grew as
Andrew Stewart hit a three with the assist of his brother
Elijah Stewart. Josh Petteno took a three with .40 seconds left on the clock which was missed and rebounded by
Jordan Sterling and given to Akonobi who made the last points of the game leading Morehouse to their first victory of the season.
Seth McCoy and Karl Chavis both led Young Harris with 15 points.
Morehouse will resume play on Monday as they participate in the Chris Paul HBCU Tip Off. They are scheduled to play Winston Salem State University tip off at 6:30pm.
