JACKSON, Tenn. - The #11 ranked Morehouse College basketball team won its 8th straight game beating Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) western division foe Lane College 72-66 on Monday evening in Jackson, Tennessee.

The Maroon Tigers trailed only once in the ball game when the Dragons took a brief 6-5 lead at the 18:20 mark of the first half. MHC was sparked by four first half three points by Robert Andrews and went into the locker rooms with a 42-35.

The second half was much of the same as Morehouse took their biggest lead of the game on a pair of free-throws by Omar Alston with 16:41 remaining in the game giving the Maroon and White a 50-35 advantage. The Maroon Tigers would see their lead dwindle down the stretch but clutch free-throw shooting in the final minutes sealed the six point victory for MHC.

Turning Point
Up 65-60 with 1:00 remaining in the game, Morehouse connected on 7-of-8 free-throws down the stretch to hold on for the 72-66 victory.

Individual Leaders
Junior guard Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) shot 6-of-10 for a game-high 20 points and 2 assist. Senior forward Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) had a team-high seven rebounds with nine points and four assist. Sophomore Chibueze Ebinum (Lanham, MD) had 11 points while senior forward James Walker (Stone Mountain, GA) had nine points and five rebounds off the bench.
