MEMPHIS, TN - #11 Morehouse College held off a late LeMoyne-Owen College push on their way to a 70-66 victory Saturday evening in Memphis, Tenn.

The Maroon Tigers improve to 11-1, 5-1 SIAC while the Magicians fall to 9-6, 4-3 SIAC.

MHC started off hot and took a 13 point lead (26-13) on a three-point basket from junior transfer Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) at the 9:24 mark of the first half. LOC clawed back into the game cutting the lead to three as Morehouse went into the locker room with a 34-31 lead at the half.

The second half saw much of the same as the Maroon Tigers would build their biggest lead of the game, 56-40 with 13:07 remaining in the game. LeMoyne Owen would again work their magic and cut the lead to four but it was a little too late as Morehouse held on for the 70-66 victory.

MHC was led by Andrews who finished with a game-high 19 points while pulling down four rebounds. Senior forward Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) picked up his ninth double-double of the season as he had 17 points and 10 rebounds in the winning effort while senior guard Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) had another solid performance with a game-high nine assist and six points. Junior Forward Keith Heard chipped in with eight points and six rebounds while blocking a season-high five shots in the win.

LOC had four players in double figures led by Toriano Stokes who had a team-high 16 points in the loss.

The Maroon Tigers shot 48% from the floor while holding the Magicians to just 32% while the teams forced 19 turnovers a piece.

Morehouse returns to action this Monday as they visit the Dragons of Lane College in Jackson, Tenn. Tip is set for 5 p.m. ET
