Maroon Tigers Lose Doubleheader to Bears

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 March 16, 2018 – ATLANTA – In the first conference games of the season, the Maroon Tigers dropped a doubleheader to the Miles Golden Bears.
 
The two seven-inning games were scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, but were moved up, because of the forecast of heavy rain. Weather permitting, the two teams will play a single nine-inning game, Saturday.   
 
In Game One:
 
The Bears took it 7-6.
 
After giving up a run in the second inning, the Maroon Tigers rallied for four runs in the fourth, to take a 4-1 lead.
 
The Golden Bears bounced back with five runs in the top of the fifth inning and a 6-4 lead. But the Tigers scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth, to tie the game.
 
Neither team scored in the sixth inning, but the Bears scored a run in the seventh, on a walk, two stolen bases and a throwing error.
 
In the bottom of the frame, the Tigers had no answer and fell to 9-14; 0-1.  
 
Pitcher Kristopher Skinner went the distance for Morehouse. The right-hander gave up seven hits, but allowed only one earned run and slipped to 1-2.
 
 
In Game Two:
 
The Bears scored early and often on the way to a 14-9 win.
 
Miles scored at least one run, in the first six innings and put the Tigers away early.
 
Starting pitcher Grant Bennett took the loss for Morehouse and fell to 3-4.
