March 13, 2018 – ATLANTA – #7 Barry University defeated #4 Eckerd College, 79-72, to win the NCAA Division II South Region Men's Basketball Tournament. Barry advances to the Elite 8 and will travel to Sioux Falls, S.D., to represent the South Region, in the national championship tournament.

Elvar Fridriksson poured in 29 points, on 11 of 20 shooting, to lead Barry, in scoring. 

Teammate Sunday Dech added 14 points and hauled in nine rebounds. 

Keshawn Ingram, with 22 points and four rebounds, led the Tritons of Eckerd, who finished the season at 26-7. 

Eckerd's Drushawn McLaurn, put up nine points and grabbed a game-high 14 rebounds.

 

The South Region All-Tournament Team:
