Box Score April 8, 2017 -- ATLANTA -- After losing the first game, 14-7, Morehouse earned a split in the doubleheader against Paine College, with a dramatic come-from-behind win.
The Maroon Tigers scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and won 12-11.
Pinch runner Isaiah Blassingame scored the winning run with no outs in the inning. Blassingame, running for Bryan Armstead, who had singled, induced a throw from the catcher, which sailed into right field. The speedy freshman hustled around the bases and was mobbed by jubilant teammates as he crossed home plate.
On that play, right fielder Michael Broadus scored ahead of Blassingame, to tie the score at 11-all. Broadus' single drove in two runs and he advanced to third on Armstead's hit.
Armstead's single was the sixth consecutive hit in the inning off losing pitcher Zach Rader.
Designated hitter Zachary Lowe started the rally with a single, to lead off the inning. Kaelan Ashford-Jones, Jared Maner and Xavier Floyd followed with singles.
Right-hander Benjamin Phillips got the win and improved his record to 1-1. Phillips came into the game in the fifth to replace starter Anthony Dodd.
In the first inning, Floyd hit his second home run of the year, driving in Ashford-Jones who had singled. Morehouse scored three runs in the first inning, to take a 3-1 lead. The Tigers put up two more runs in the second inning, on three hits and an error and tacked on another run in the fifth.
Ashford-Jones went 3-of-4 at the plate and Floyd finished with four runs batted in.
The Tigers overcame six errors, to win their sixth game of the season and improved to 6-23; 3-8.
