April 1, 2017 – COLUMBIA, SC – The Maroon Tigers dropped both halves of a double-header against the Benedict College Tigers, by identical scores of 16-9.

In Game One:

Morehouse had 11 hits, but committed three errors and surrendered nine unearned runs.

Derrick Lewis went 3-of-4 from the plate, scored two runs and drove in a run.

Jared Maner went 3-of-3, with two doubles, scored twice and drove in a run.

Bobby Kannady collected two hits, two runs scored and an RBI.

Jason Davis took the loss for Morehouse.

Benedict pounded out 13 hits.

In Game Two:

Morehouse collected nine hits, committed four errors and left seven runners on base.

Amyr Smith went 3-of-4 from the plate, scored three times and drove in a run.

Jared Maner had two hits in three trips, scored once and had one RBI.

Jason Davis was 0-of-2 from the plate, but drove in two runs and scored once.

Anthony Dodd was the losing pitcher.

Benedict scored their 16 runs on 17 hits and seven walks.

With the two losses, Morehouse fell to 5-21; 2-6. Benedict improved to 16-8;6-2.

The two teams will square off again, Sunday, at 1 p.m.
