March 26, 2017 – NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – The Maroon Tigers lost ­the rubber match of the three-game series against the Claflin University Panthers, in a 13-12 slugfest.

In game three of the Low Country Classic, the game went down to the wire. Morehouse staged a late-game rally, scoring four runs in the ninth inning, but came up just short.

Morehouse got outstanding games from several players, including Kaelan Ashford-Jones, Jason Davis, Derrick Lewis and Amyr Smith.

Smith, who went 4-of-6 at the plate, with two runs scored and two runs batted in. He also came in to pitch, going two-and-a-third innings.

Lewis went 3-of-6 from the plate, with three RBI and a run scored.

Davis had three hits, drive in two runs and scored a run.

Ashford-Jones had three hits in four trips to the plate and scored two runs.

In a game in which the lead changed hands, four times, the Maroon Tigers pounded out 17 hits, but missed multiple scoring opportunities and stranded 14 runners, as they fell to 5-19 (2-4 SIAC).
