Morehouse Scores Late, Downs Tuskegee

Box Score

March 18, 2017 -- ATLANTA -- Outfielder Jason Davis scored an unearned run in the bottom of the eighth inning and pitcher Anthony Dodd held in the ninth and Morehouse beat Tuskegee, 3-2.

Davis' run was set up after he singled to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a single down the third-base line, by third baseman Grant Bennett. A sacrifice bunt back to the pitcher, by Bobby Kannady, moved both Morehouse runners up a base.

With Jordan Davis at bat, Jason Davis's induced a throw by the Tuskegee catcher that sailed over the head of the third baseman. Davis skipped home, to the delight of the largest home crowd this season.

Morehouse got on the board first, in the third inning, on four straight singles by Jared Maner, Xavier Floyd, Jason Davis and Grant Bennett whose hit drove in two runs.

Tuskegee bounced back in the fifth inning, with two unearned runs, on three of Morehouse's, seven errors.

Starting pitcher Daron Bowling left the game with an arm injury and was replaced on the mound by Dodd who silenced the Golden Tigers' bats the rest of the way and got the win.

Jason Davis went 3-of-4 from the plate, with three singles and a run scored. Grant Bennett had two hits and two RBI.

Morehouse, with 11 hits, improved to 4-15.
