Maroon Tigers Win Season Opener

Box Score November 10, 2017 -- WINTER PARK, FL -- Five Maroon Tigers posted double figures and Morehouse notched a season-opening win over the Florida Institute of Technology, 87-82.

The game was the first of the South Region Crossover, hosted by Rollins College. The crossover, in its second year, between the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the Sunshine State Conference, includes Rollins, Florida Tech and Clark Atlanta.

A layup by center Omar Alston, at the 14:33 mark in the first half,  put Morehouse ahead 13-11. After that, the Maroon Tigers led the rest of the way. A ferocious Tigers defense forced a total of 23 turnovers and kept Panthers off balance. The Tigers increased the lead to 47-36 at the half.

Team co-captains, Martravious Little and Tyrius Walker, led the Tigers in scoring with 17 and 19 points, respectively.

Walker scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half. Little scored 11 of his 17 points in the first half.
