Box Score November 26, 2016 – ATLANTA – Six Maroon Tigers posted double figures and Morehouse cruised to a 101-77 win over the Virginia Union University Panthers.
The Maroon Tigers' 59 percent shooting was a far cry from the 25 percent they shot in the loss a week ago against Shaw, another team from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
Morehouse fell behind early and trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half, but the Maroon Tigers righted the ship and out-scored the Panthers 31-8 to close out the half.
In the second half, the Panthers came out firing and cut the 52-36 lead in half. Once again, the Tigers surged, rallying for their largest margin of victory since the 87-46 win over Fisk, in November 2015.
It was the first time Morehouse has cracked the century scoring mark since a 108-99 triple-overtime win over Fort Valley, in March of 20113.
Martravious Little and Duby Maduegbunam led the way for Morehouse, with 17 points each. The hot-scoring duo who rank 1-2 in team scoring combined for 13 of 20 shooting from the field. Maduegbunam scored 15 of his points in the first half. Little scored 11 of his in the second.
Tyrius Walker also had a big game, posting 16 points, seven assists, four steals and three rebounds. Third in scoring at 14 points-per-game, Walker is the only Tiger to have scored in double figures in each of the five games to start the season.
Jordan Wallace almost matched Walker's numbers, with 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals. He scored 12 of his points in the second half.
Michael Olmert hit four of his five shots, for 11 points and his second double-digit scoring of the season.
Omar Alston saved his best game for the second half. The sophomore forward scored eight of his 10 points and grabbed seven of his eight rebounds after intermission.
Kairo Whitfield scored eight points and hauled down four rebounds.
Morehouse will make a short road trip to Carrollton, Ga., Monday, and play the West Georgia Wolves, at 7 p.m. then travel to Athens, Ga. to play the Georgia Bulldogs, in what will be an exhibition game for the Tigers, but a regular-season game for the Dawgs.
