Box Score In Game 1:
February 28, 2015 – ATLANTA – Jordan Tarver picked up where he left off yesterday, driving in three runs and powering Morehouse to a 7-5 win over the Clark Atlanta Panthers.
Tarver, in the designated hitter role, hit a first-pitch fastball well over the 330 sign in left field, driving in Jared Maner and Christian Griffith. The three-run blast was the first home run by a Maroon Tiger this season. and gave Morehouse a 5-3 lead, in the fourth inning. Yesterday, the junior from Lithonia, GA, drove in five runs, in the 13-3 win against CAU.
The Panthers bounced back in the fifth, with two runs on two hits and two walks. The Panther rally chased Morehouse starting pitcher Malik Zuberi, who gave way to reliever Anthony Dodd.
Zuberi went four and two-thirds innings and surrendered four runs on four hits and five walks, while striking out three. Dodd finished the game and got the win. He gave up one run and three hits.
Tarver had to share offensive honors with catcher Zachary Lowe who also drove in three runs. Lowe's single in the sixth was the game-winner. It drove home Derrick Lewis, who singled, and Ryan Christian, who walked. It was the second time in the game Ryan had reach on a walk then was driven home by Lowe. In the third, Lowe's sacrifice fly drove home the speedy centerfielder.
Patrick Dickerson picked up two hit and drove in a run. Caleb Pyscher had a hit and scored a run.
Morehouse improved to 5-6.
In Game 2:
Daron Bowling pitched a gem of a game. The redshirt freshman from Cincinnati went the distance, allowing six hits and two earned runs, as Morehouse won 6-3 against Clark Atlanta.
Bowling, who leveled his record at 1-1, struck out four and walked one, in the third straight win over the Panthers.
Most of the offensive help came from freshmen Derrick Lewis and Jared Maner who had identical line scores of two hits, an RBI and a run scored.
Morehouse scored its six runs on six hits, scoring a run in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth.
The Maroon Tigers added two insurance runs in the sixth. Christian Griffith hit a pinch-hit single driving in Jared Maner who had reached base on all four trips to the plate and Derrick Lewis' single drove in Jordan Tarver.
Zachary Lowe scored two runs and Elijah Sudduth had an RBI single.
The Maroon Tigers evened their record at 6-6.
