Box Score November 13, 2015 -- The Maroon Tigers jumpstarted the season, with a 77-70 win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls, in the CIAA/SIAC Challenge, being held at Tuskegee.
Picking up where he left off last season, Tyrius Walker led Morehouse in scoring with 20 points. Walker, last season's SIAC Freshman of the Year, scored 10 points in each half and handed out five assists.
The margin of victory was set in the first half, when the Maroon Tigers took a 40-33 lead into the locker room. In the second half, Morehouse led by as many as 12 points, but let the advantage slip away to four points with three minutes left.
Three other Tigers posted double figures.
Junior forward Michael Hall split his 12 points evenly over both halves and grabbed four rebounds.
Martravious Little poured in 11 points, mostly on eye-popping dunks. Two of his flushes came on breakaways and the other via an alley oop. He added three rebounds, to round out the start of his second season.
In his Morehouse debut, Anthony Farrar made his presence felt all over the floor. The freshman from Atlanta hit 3 of 6 from the field, 5 of 5 from the free-throw line, made four steals and collected four rebounds.
Miodrag Minic got his first start since transferring last season. The senior from Nis, Serbia played solid defense and hauled in seven rebounds.
Newcomers Omar Alston and Ayinde Russell had nearly identical stat lines in their first game as Maroon Tigers. The freshmen chipped in six points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.
Morehouse played without starting center Robert Askew who is nursing an ankle sprain and is listed as day-to-day.
On Saturday, Morehouse will take on the Broncos of Fayetteville State, who lost, 78-70, to Tuskegee in the nightcap. Tuskegee will play Johnson C. Smith.
