Maroon Tigers Tame Panthers for Season's First Win

November 9, 2013 – ATLANTA – The Maroon Tigers rebounded from an opening-day loss to Johnson C. Smith and downed the Virginia Union Panthers, 70-64, in game two of the HBCU Tipoff Classic, at Forbes Arena.

Four Maroon Tigers scored in double figures, led by 15 points by SIAC preseason selection Austin Anderson. D'Anthony Relaford added 13 points, Tyrone Brown chipped in 12 points and a team-high 14 rebounds, and David Buchannon scored 12 points.

Morehouse outshot VUU 57 percent to 40 percent.

In the early game on day two: Johnson C. Smith beat Tuskegee, 73-69.


Tuskegee with host the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Sunday, at 3 p.m., in game five of the HBCU classic, which was originally schedule to be played in Phillips Arena, the home of the Atlanta Hawks.

In the classic's final game, Morehouse will host UAPB, Monday, at 7 p.m.
