Morehouse Holds Off Stillman

January 7, 2013 – ATLANTA – Darrius Williams scored a career-high 33 points and Shawn Allen added a season-high 26 points, to power Morehouse to a 99-98 win over the Stillman College Tigers.
 
After falling behind 0-2, the Maroon Tigers led the rest of the way, including 54-45 at halftime. Morehouse enjoyed a 15-point margin with seven minutes remaining, but let Stillman back in the game, with 12 second-half turnovers.   
 
It was a game of highs for the Maroon Tigers who registered season highs in points (99), free-throw percentage (85) shooting percentage (59), rebound margin (+16) and three-point accuracy (56 percent).
 
Allen and Williams were keys in the Tigers shooting accuracy, especially down the stretch. Allen hit 7-of-10 from the field and 11-of-14 from the line. Williams hit 10-of-13 from the field and 13-of-15 from the charity stripe.
 
Hauling in 11 rebounds each, both players recorded their third double-doubles of the season. They also combined for nine assists and four steals.
 
Austin Anderson contributed to the team sharpshooting, hitting 5-of-8 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line, for 17 points.
 
Jonathan Tassin, starting his second straight game, poured in 13 points and grabbed four rebounds.  
 
Five Stillman Tigers recorded double figures, paced by Ladarius Rhone, with 29 points and eight rebounds. Stillman fell to 5-6 (1-2 SIAC).
 
After a 1-5 start to the season, Morehouse has won three in a row and moved to 4-5 (2-0 SIAC).
 
The Maroon Tigers will host the Miles College Golden Bears, Thursday, at 7:30 p.m.
