Bob Whitfield is in his second season as the offensive line coach at Morehouse College, bringing decades of elite football experience to the Maroon Tigers program. Known for his technical expertise and mentorship, Whitfield is playing a key role in strengthening the offensive front under head coach Terance Mathis.
A standout at Stanford University, Whitfield is regarded as one of the greatest offensive tackles in school history. He was a two-time First Team All-America selection in 1990 and 1991, and earned First Team All-Pac-10 honors. Remarkably, he played every down as a freshman in 1989 and started 34 games in his three-year Stanford career.
Selected 8th overall in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons, Whitfield went on to enjoy a 15-year NFL career with Atlanta (1992–2003), Jacksonville (2004), and the New York Giants (2005–2006). He earned Pro Bowl honors in 1998 and started 167 games across his NFL tenure, including a Super Bowl XXXIII appearance with the Falcons.
In addition to coaching, Whitfield is the founder of PatchWerk Recordings in Atlanta, a renowned studio that engineered the sound on hundreds of gold and platinum records. His career from pro athlete to entrepreneur and a collegiate coach reflects a deep commitment to excellence, mentorship, and community development.
