Box Score ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse continued its calendar-year surge Tuesday afternoon at Forbes Arena, jumping out early and never looking back in an 80-66 win over Kentucky State in an SIAC Cross-Division matchup. The Maroon Tigers (first place, SIAC East) built a 27-point halftime lead behind relentless pressure and balanced scoring, then withstood a second-half push to extend their winning streak to 10 straight and improve to 10-0 over their last 10 games.
First half
Morehouse set the tone immediately. Jared White opened the scoring with a layup off a Sincere Moore assist, and the Maroon Tigers kept attacking downhill, Brandon Peters finished at the rim, then Ebuka Peter Okechukwu added a quick jumper as Morehouse raced to a 6-0 start in the first minute.
Kentucky State got on the board with a dunk and a layup, but the early response came from Morehouse's defense. The Maroon Tigers turned stops into quick offense, forcing turnovers and creating extra possessions with offensive rebounds. JerMontae Hill steadied the pace at the line, Blake Pollock scored in transition, and Hill added back-to-back finishes around the basket as the margin ballooned.
Kentucky State briefly found points at the stripe, but Morehouse kept the pressure on. After the Thorobreds trimmed it to 22-11, the Maroon Tigers answered with a three-point swing of momentum: White finished inside, Peters hammered home a dunk, and Sincere Key drilled a three to make it 30-11. Key stayed hot moments later, burying another triple to push the lead past 20, and Morehouse continued to win the hustle categories: steals on the perimeter, rebounds on both ends, and quick outlets leading to easy looks.
Late in the half, Tony Hicks knocked down a pair of free throws, Josiah Lawson scored through contact, and Moore punctuated the opening period with a three in the final seconds as Morehouse took a commanding 46-19 advantage into the break.
Second half
Kentucky State came out aggressive after halftime, attacking the paint and getting to the line to chip away. The Thorobreds scored on multiple early finishes and kept the pressure on with free throws, trimming the deficit while Morehouse worked to regain rhythm.
Each time the margin threatened to shrink, the Maroon Tigers delivered timely answers. Lawson scored in the lane and Key hit another three to restore breathing room. When Kentucky State knocked down a pair of threes and mixed in dunks to cut the lead under 20, Morehouse responded from the perimeter—White connected from deep, then Hill answered with a three of his own to keep the cushion intact.
The game turned more physical as the second half progressed. Kentucky State continued to score at the stripe, and Okechukwu eventually fouled out, but Morehouse leaned on its depth, getting key minutes and points from the bench. Down the stretch, the Thorobreds pulled within 13 with under five minutes left, but Hill stopped the run with a pull-up jumper and Key delivered the dagger—a three that pushed the lead back to 18 and effectively closed the door. Morehouse finished the final minutes with poised possessions and enough stops to seal the 80-66 win.
