Kemei Repeats as AC Runner of the Week

| By:
ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse senior Brian Kemei delivered a wire-to-wire victory at the Willie Laster Cross Country Invitational, crossing the line in 26:03.2 to win the men's 8K. The performance earned Kemei his second consecutive Runner of the Week award from the SIAC.  The mark showed a 1:39.6 improvement from his previous outing (27:42.8), which earned Kemei honors last week, and set the tone for the Maroon Tigers' podium team finish.

Why He Won It

  • Dominant win: Led from the opening kilometer and never relinquished control against a mixed field of SIAC and Peach Belt competitors.

  • Significant week-to-week drop: Cut 1:39.6 from last week's time—an elite in-season improvement that reflects fitness and race execution.

  • Pace excellence: Averaged roughly 5:14 per mile over 8K, showcasing front-running strength and late-race composure.

  • Team impact: His individual title propelled Morehouse to a top-3 team finish, anchoring the scoring five.
