ATLANTA, GA | After winning the opening game of a critical series with the Golden Rams on Friday, in walk-off fashion, the Maroon Tigers were unable to take the momenteum from the victory into Saturday's doubleheader. Morehouse would drop the final two games, of the series, with Albany State.
ALBANY STATE 22, MOREHOUSE 6
Morehouse With Tough Game Against Albany State
Morehouse couldn't keep up with Albany State and fell 22-6 on Saturday.
Albany State got on the board in the top of the first inning after a single scored one run, followed by another single, scoring one run. A double added another run, followed by three RBI singles, with the last one good for two runs.
Albany State added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when a single scored one run, and a homerun to center field, scored two runs. Albany State added one run in the third on a ground out, making the score 11-0.
Albany State scored nine runs on six hits in the top of the fourth inning. A Golden Ram was struck by a pitch, driving in a run. A series of hits, along with a Maroon Tiger error allowed additional runs to score.
Ian Makle took the loss for Morehouse. The starting pitcher went one inning, surrendering seven runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking two.
Morehouse collected nine hits in the game.
Nicholas Pittman led Morehouse with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day.
ALBANY STATE 7, MOREHOUSE 5
Morehouse Can't Quite Erase 6-Run Deficit In Loss To Albany State
Despite a 6-run deficit in the sixth inning, Morehouse almost came all the way back, eventually falling 7-5 to Albany State on Saturday. Morehouse closed the gap by scoring on a double and a single.
Morehouse lost despite out-hitting Albany State 10 to six.
James Thorpe and Lee Hodges each collected two hits for Morehouse.
Albany State opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to two singles.
Thorpe hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the second for the Morehouse.
Albany State added to their early lead in the top of the third inning whit a single and a sacrifice fly.
Vernon Clay pitched four innings in relief for Morehouse. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.
Noah Grayson took the loss for Morehouse. The hurler went three innings, surrendering six runs (four earned) on four hits, striking out two and walking three.
Morehouse piled up 10 hits in the game.
Raymond Jenkins led Morehouse with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Morehouse turned one double play in the game.
