ORANGEBURG, S.C. | The Morehouse Maroon Tigers showcased an array of strong performances at the Sharonda Coleman-Singleton Classic hosted by South Carolina State University on April 19. Several athletes recorded personal or season-best marks, and the team secured multiple top-three finishes across events.

Top Performers and Highlights

Freshman Logan McCormick captured first place in the men's high jump, clearing 1.95 meters (6' 4.75") to claim gold for Morehouse. McCormick also secured sixth place in the long jump with a mark of 6.59 meters (21' 7.5"), continuing his standout freshman campaign.

The distance events saw a strong showing for the Maroon Tigers, led by Issiah Simms, who finished second in the men's 5000 meters with a time of 16:43.19. Teammate Phoenix Satterfield followed closely, capturing third place at 17:23.39, while Ronny Kiprono finished fifth in 17:52.64, marking a season-best for the trio.

In hurdles action, sophomore Jermiah Alibey delivered a stellar performance, placing second in the 110-meter hurdles finals with a time of 14.74 seconds after posting a preliminary time of 15.05 seconds.

The 4x100 meter relay team—comprised of Evan Alphonse, Jayden Smith, Christian Whitmore, and Jared Russell II—posted a season-best time of 41.77 seconds, good enough for a sixth-place finish. The 4x400 relay squad (Sidney Morris, Alibey, Smith, and Russell II) also earned points, placing eighth with a time of 3:20.89.

In the men's 1500 meters, Brian Kemei crossed the line in fifth place with a season-best of 4:04.63, while Taylor Battle and Dennis Kipruto posted times of 4:18.13 and 4:18.36, respectively.

Additional Season Bests and Notable Results

• Cassie Scott clocked a 100-meter preliminary time of 11.01 seconds before finishing sixth in the finals at 11.08 seconds.

• In the men's 400 meters, Sidney Morris recorded a time of 49.69 seconds, finishing tenth overall.

• Jeremiah Major turned in a strong performance in the 800 meters with a 2:01.14 mark.

• In field events, Isaiah Reaves placed ninth in the discus throw with a season-best toss of 39.26 meters (128' 10").
