Basketball Announces Inaugural Den of Honor Class

| By:
ATLANTA, GA | For many,  a long-overdue tribute to a basketball program that had carved out countless memories over the years has been discussed. Morehouse basketball isn't just about points on the scoreboard; it had produced leaders on and off the court, forging bonds that lasted well beyond graduation. This group has been a part of the late-night and early-morning practices, rivalry games with thunderous crowds, and the feeling of unity that came from representing a school dedicated to producing men of distinction. From Archer Hall to Forbes Arena, the long bus rides, from the pioneers, through the civil rights era, and into today's social media age, the Maroon Tiger Basketball Den of Honor will finally commemorate it all: the moments that shaped legends and the countless unsung heroes who have made Morehouse basketball a family.

The inaugural class is as follows (year completed eligibility in parentheses) :Den of Honor-BK
Karl Bell (1981)
Ozzie Bynum (1955)
Brandon Childs (2006)

The group will be honored on Friday, February 21 at a private dinner in Atlanta.  The class will be honored publicly at the "Big Cat Hardwood Classic" versus Clark-Atlanta on Saturday, February 22 during halftime of the game.  The game is set to tip off at 6PM.  Tickets for the game can be found here.  The members will be featured on the Den of honor page on the www.morehouseathletics.com website, after the ceremonies.

Current athletic director, Harold Ellis, who is in the inaugural class, stated the following, "We honor a tradition that has shaped our institution in profound ways. Basketball at Morehouse is about more than just winning games—it's about discipline, brotherhood, and leadership. The Den of Honor will be a space to acknowledge the men who wore the Maroon and White before us, and to inspire the next generation of Maroon Tigers."
