ATLANTA, GA | Morehouse College tight end
Maurice Veney has been selected to the 2025 All-SIAC First Team at tight end, the league office announced this today. Veney becomes the latest Maroon Tiger pass-catcher to earn first-team all-conference honors after a breakout campaign in the heart of one of the SIAC's top passing attacks.
Veney finished second on the team in receptions and was one of the most productive tight ends in the conference, closing league play with 27 catches for 339 yards and 3 touchdowns, averaging 12.6 yards per reception and 42.4 receiving yards per game. He was a trusted option on third down and in the red zone for quarterback Miles Scott, helping Morehouse rank among the SIAC's top passing offenses at 278.0 yards per game through the air in conference action.
The Philadelphia native delivered some of his biggest performances in the season's most high-profile moments. Veney opened SIAC play with 5 receptions for 43 yards against Kentucky State, then hauled in 6 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown in the neutral-site win over Tuskegee. He followed with another standout performance against Lane, posting 3 receptions for 71 yards and a score, and added a red-zone touchdown grab at Savannah State. He recorded at least three receptions in five of eight league games and had a catch in every contest this season.
Veney's versatility also showed up in Morehouse's all-purpose yardage totals. He matched wide receiver Kamrin Brunson for third on the team in all-purpose yards with 339 total, ranking among the Maroon Tigers' most consistent weekly playmakers.
Veney's first-team selection caps a 2025 campaign in which Morehouse featured one of the league's most explosive passing games, highlighted by multiple 300-yard outings through the air and a deep receiving corps that consistently stressed opposing defenses. His All-SIAC honor adds to the growing list of postseason recognition for the Maroon Tigers under Coach Mathis and positions Veney as one of the premier returning tight ends in Division II football heading into 2026.
