Savannah, GA- The Morehouse Maroon Tigers overcame a slow start against Savannah State to snatch a heart-stopping 68-66 victory.

The match kicked off with Savannah State taking an early lead, establishing a six-point advantage over Morehouse within the first 14 minutes of play. The Maroon Tigers rallied, narrowing the gap to a mere two points. By halftime, Morehouse had turned the tables, securing the lead at 38-36 in a testament to their resilience.

The second half was a fierce battle with scoring going back and forth as both teams fought to see who was taking the lead back. Under the pressure of Savannah State, the Maroon Tigers were determined to secure their next win. As the clock wound down, with just two minutes remaining, Savannah State held a precarious one-point lead.

In a pivotal moment, Morehouse's Cedric Taylor III stepped up, drawing a crucial foul that sent him to the free-throw line with the score tied at 66-66. Taylor coolly sank both shots, giving the Maroon Tigers a one-point advantage.

As the game approached its climax, Taylor found himself at the free-throw line again in the last 10 seconds, this time under intense pressure. He made the shot count, securing the victory for Morehouse.
 
Ayjay Plain carried the Tigers with 15 points. Qua King was right behind with 14 points.

The Maroon Tigers had three players who would all finish the game with 12 points, Cedric Taylor III, Amahn Decker, and Demetrius Calip II.

The Maroon Tigers continue their road game series as they head to Jacksonville, FL to take on Edward Waters on Monday, January 22 at 7:30pm.
