Atlanta, GA- The Maroon Tigers finished their weekend series with a doubleheader on Sat, Apr 22. Before the first game started the Maroon Tigers took a minute to honor their senior
Justin Harrison. The Tigers would sweep Morehouse in both games, 20-2, and 3-0.
Game 1:
Edward Waters offensive onslaught continued in Game Two as the Tigers put up 20 runs on 14 hits. EWU posted five runs in the top of the second inning and another three in the top of the third and two runs apiece in the top of the fourth and fifth inning respectively to take a commanding 12-0 lead.
The Tigers then added eight more runs in the top of the seventh, including homers by Payton Shubert and Anthony Roman to make it a 20-0 advantage. Morehouse added just two runs in the bottom half of the seventh but far from enough to extend the game as the Tigers took a run-rule victory.
Game 2:
The final contest of the series was a low scoring one, but just enough for the Tigers to earn the three-game sweep of Morehouse. John Nobles started the scoring in top half of the fourth with an RBI fielder's choice and Leonel Garcia added a two-RBI single to give the Tigers a 3-0 lead, which was all they needed to take the win.
The Maroon Tigers are on the road as they get ready to finish their 2023 season with a weekend series against Savannah State on April 27-28. On Thursday, Apr 27, first pitch is at 4pm.
