The Maroon Tigers Kicked Off Weekend Series Against Clark Atlanta With Two Wins

Atlanta, GA- It was a rivalry weekend series for the Maroon Tigers as they hosted Clark Atlanta on Saturday and Sunday. The Maroon Tigers would kick off the series with a doubleheader against the Panthers and they would walk away with two straight wins. The first game was a blow out as they won 11-1, and the second game they would win by just two points, 6-4.

Game 1:
Morehouse and Clark Atlanta would both go without scoring during the 1st inning but Clark Atlanta would be the team to put the first points on the board during the 2nd inning, the Maroon Tigers would not get their points until the 3rd inning when they would score five runs. During the 3rd inning, David Coleman would hit a home run, and James Thorpe would score a home run as well.

Clark Atlanta would only score during the 1st inning and would have a difficult time scoring for the rest of the game but that would not be an issue for Morehouse as they would score two runs in the 4th inning and three runs in the 5th inning and in the 8th inning one run. In the 4th inning, Lee Hodges and Jaylen Greene would both hit home runs and in the 8th inning James Thorpe would score another home run.

Andrew Garner would get one RBI for the Panthers.

David Coleman II would lead with three RBI's. Jayleen Greene, James Thorpe, and Lee Hodges would both finish with two RBI's.

Game 2:
The Maroon Tigers would come back ready for another win against the Panthers. Morehouse would open game two by scoring two runs in the 1st inning by David Coleman and Elijah Pinckney. The Panthers wouldn't score until the 2nd inning with one run. Morehouse would respond with two more runs in the 2nd inning and would go to score again in the 3rd inning.

The Panthers would score one run in the 4th, 5th, and 6th inning. The Maroon Tigers would hit a rut in scoring for the 4th and 5th inning but would score one more run in the 6th inning walking away with the win.

Daniel Gay, Michael Sims, and Asa Waites would all have 1 RBI.

Elijah Pinckney, David Coleman, and Lee Hodges would finish with 1 RBI.

The weekend series continues Sunday, Mar 26, first pitch at 3:30pm.
