Savannah, GA- The Maroon Tigers secured their spot in the semifinals on Wednesday evening, as they knocked off Lane College 68-64 during the 2023 TIAA SIAC Basketball Championship presented by Cricket.
The Maroon Tigers would kick off the game with a three pointer by
Christian Lamar but a foul tech on
Kerry Richardson would send Lane to the free throw line and putting their first two points of the game on the board. Lane and Morehouse would tie the score four times during the first half, but Morehouse would eventually secure the lead and keep it for the rest of the game, 28-23.
Coming back from the half neither teams would score for the first 3 minutes of the game until a foul by Lane would send
Chukwuebuka Nwafor to the line putting up the first point of the game. At 15:22, the score would tie again, 33-33, but a quick three by
Andrew Stewart would give Morehouse the lead. The score would go back and forth on tying multiple times until the one minute mark when Morehouse would secure a six point advantage over the Dragons and would finish the game with the win.
To lead for the Dragons was Maximillon Bell with 17 points. Following behind him was Radarious Washington with 15 points.
For the Maroon Tigers,
Kerry Richardson and
Andrew Stewart who would tie with 14 points.
The Maroon Tigers are back in action on Friday, Mar 3, at 7:30pm. The announcement of who they will be playing will be announced Thursday evening.
