- Morehouse watched the game slip away as Kentucky State took both the wins in a double header match this Saturday afternoon. The Thorobreds would end up beating Morehouse by five points in the first game, 7-2 and by two in the second game, 9-7.
Game 1:
The Maroon Tigers let the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 7-2 loss to Kentucky State. The Thorobreds scored on an error in the 1
st inning, accomplished two home runs in the 2
nd innings.
The Maroon Tigers would go almost the entire game without scoring until the seventh inning and the ninth inning.
James Thorpe would score a run in the 7
th inning and
Darren Avent would score in the 9
th inning.
Joe Esparza had 4 RBI's, Kelton Saylor had 2 RBI's, and Jace Wilson had 1 RBI.
Timothy Whiteman and
Darren Avent both had 1 RBI.
Game 2:
The Maroon Tigers fought back after falling down by six runs in the 4
th inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 9-7 defeat to the Thorobreds on Saturday afternoon. Morehouse would score five runs in the failed comeback on a single by
Elijah Pickney in the fifth, a double by David Coleman in the seventh, and a fielder's choice by
Justin Harrison in the seventh.
Morehouse tried their hardest to keep up with the Thorobreds at the start of the game. Kentucky State started off the game with a single and a double just in the 1
st inning. Kentucky State would also get a home run in the 2
nd inning. Morehouse would notch three runs in the seventh inning.
For Kentucky State, Jose Esparza, and Jace Wilson and 3 RBI's, Isaiah Zepeda-Felix had 2 RBI's, and Brad Dossett had 1 RBI,
David Coleman and
Elijah Pickney would have 2 RBI's.
Justin Harrison and
Jalen Gibbs had 1 RBI.
The two losses drop Morehouse to 4-3-1 on the year. The Maroon Tigers will play at home tomorrow, Sunday Feb 19
th, against Kentucky State, game time 12pm.
