Tuskegee, AL- The Maroon Tigers keep their winning streak going as they defeat Tuskegee, 59-55.
Tuskegee would start off the game by getting the first three points of the game and would create a 10 point lead within the first five minutes of the game. Morehouse would get their first points of the game with a foul by D'Anthony Pennington which sent
Damion Mitchell to the free throw line. With both made free throws that would put a spark under
Omar Rowe as he would force a turnover on Tuskegee get the steal and would go for a three pointer making the score, 10-5 but Tuskegee would still have a five point advantage over Morehouse. Until a jumper by
Chimezie Okeke would tie the score, 10-10, but Tuskegee would respond right back taking the lead back. Scoring would go back and forth for both teams and the score would tie multiple times until the Golden Tigers would make a little lead on Morehouse and would end the first half, 25-21.
Entering the second half it would turn into the battle of the tigers as both teams would fight for the win.
Damion Mitchell would open the second half with a layup making it a two point game but an immediate foul by
Chukwuebuka Nwafor would send Tuskegee to the line. Both teams would keep fighting throughout the game until another three-pointer by
Omar Rowe would finally give Morehouse the gas they needed and would let them create a lead of their own, 36-34. The Maroon Tigers would keep their lead until 6:37 when the score would tie up again, 47-47. A foul by Decker would put Tuskegee ahead and they would get a three pointer making the score, 50-47. Morehouse would keep fighting and would tie the score again, 51-51, with just three minutes left in the game. Rowe would make another three putting Morehouse up by three points. A foul by Draper would send
Amahn Decker to the free throw line but Tuskegee would get a foul of their own making the score, 55-53. Morehouse had other plans as they would score back to back times and with a last minute foul by Tuskegee, Morehouse would walk away with their third straight win.
Martez Jones and Kusamae Draper would both finish the game with 11 points.
Omar Rowe would lead Morehouse with 18 points.
Demetrius Calip II would contribute 11 points.
The Maroon Tigers are back at home this weekend as they are hosting Talladega College in the McAfee-Brewer Memorial Classic. Tip-off at 2 pm.
