Atlanta, GA- The Maroon Tigers bounce back from their loss with a win against Miles College, 67-65.
With their winning streak broken by Clayton State last week, Morehouse would be hungry for their next win and would kick off the game by getting the first two points on the board by
Chukwuebuka Nwafor. Nwafor would make back to back shots for Morehouse creating a 4-0 lead on Miles. Miles would get their first points on the board at the 18 minute mark. At the 11:35 mark, Morehouse would have a 13 point lead with a three pointer from
Chimezie Okeke. Morehouse would keep their lead for the first half the game, but Miles would break the double digit lead down to just seven ending the first half, 34-27.
Coming back from the half, the Maroon Tigers would be ready to close out this game, but Miles had other plans as they would start off the second half with a three pointer by Mykayle Carter.
Keshawn Pegues would respond with a layup, but the Golden Bears would respond right back with a layup of their own making the score, 36-34. Scoring would go back and forth for both teams until Mykayle Carter would hit a three pointer breaking Morehouse's lead. Miles would now have a lead of their own and Morehouse would try to get it back. At 9:18, the score would tie, 51-51, but a foul by
Omar Rowe would send Corey Trotter to the line. Miles would keep their lead for the rest of the game until the last five minute, when
Chukwuebuka Nwafor would make a layup giving the spark back to Morehouse. Both teams would still be going back and forth to get the win but within the last .12 seconds of the game a foul by Miles would send
Omar Rowe to the line giving Morehouse the win.
Alvin Miles would finish the game with double digits, 21 points. Rylen Walker would be right behind with 15 points.
Chukwuebuka Nwafor would lead his team with 16 points.
Cedric Taylor III would finish with 12 points.
