Opening Tip: The Maroon Tigers look to rebound after an 82-54 exhibition loss to Georgia Tech on Tuesday in McCamish Pavilion. Since this game did not count towards either teams' regular season record, the Maroon Tigers record remains at 9-9, 6-5 in the SIAC. With a win against Savannah State University on Monday, February 3rd at Forbes Arena in Atlanta, GA, the Maroon Tigers can beat SSU in their first game against the team since the 1999 season.

Scouting MHC: The Maroon Tigers enter Monday's game 9-9, 6-5 SIAC after an exhibition loss to the Yellow Jackets that saw senior guard Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) lead the Maroon Tigers in points and assists with nine and three respectively. Freshman guard Julian Alexander (Atlanta, GA) scored eight points, shooting 67 percent from three-point range. Sophomore guard Malik Kennedy (Toronto Ontario, Canada) scored seven points, snagged one steal and had a block.

Scouting SSU: The Tigers have been on a roll lately, winning four of their last five games, with their last game being a 72-57 loss to Albany State University. Despite the streak, SSU holds a 5-9 record heading into Monday night's match. In their loss to Albany State, the Tigers were led by junior guard Adrian Bonds (Savannah, GA) who scored 13 points on 5-15 shooting from the field to go along with three steals. Senior guard Amaru Bryant (Quincy, Fla.) scored 12 points on 5-9 shooting from the field. Senior forward  Andrew Okorodudu (Lagos, Nigeria) made significant contributions, securing five rebounds and scoring 10 points while not missing a single shot.

It's Been A Long Time: The Maroon Tigers haven't played the Savannah State Tigers in basketball since the 1999-2000 season. The Maroon Tigers won that game 89-68.

New Time In Town: SSU recently rejoined the SIAC back in February of 2018. These two teams did not compete when SSU was a Division 1 team.
