BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The #1E Morehouse College basketball was upset 53-49 by #5E Paine College in the quarterfinals of the 2019 SIAC Basketball Tournament on Wednesday evening in the Bill Harris Arena at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The Lions took control of the game early and went into the locker rooms with a 30-22 halftime lead. The Maroon Tigers forced turnover after turnover in the first six minutes of the second half going on a 13-0 run and taking a 35-30 lead with 14:02 remaining in the game.
PC closed out the game on a 23-14 run for the five point victory.  

Turning Point
After the score was tied at 44-44 with Paine College took the lead for good as they went on a 6-0 run to take a 50-44 lead with 4:02 remaining in the ball game.

Individual Leaders
Senior forward Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) finished the game with his 15th double-double of the year with 10 points while hauling down 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Chibueze Ebinum (Lanham, MD) had eight points and three rebounds in the loss.

Cameron Gaines finished the game with a game-high 13 points and six rebounds in the win.
