Opening Tip: The Maroon Tigers look to get back to their winning ways after their close 64-60 lost to Georgia College in the final game of this year's Arthur J. McAfee Memorial Classic on Sunday, December 8
th, 2019. With last Sunday's loss, the Maroon Tigers fall to 5-4 on the season. With a win against Lane College on Monday, the Maroon Tigers can avoid falling back to .500 and increase their hold on the SIAC Eastern Division.
Scouting MH: Morehouse enters Monday's game 5-4 after last Sunday's loss to Georgia College that saw senior guard
Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) lead the Maroon Tigers in scoring with 14 points, shooting 5-12 from the field while also grabbing six rebounds and contributing defensively with two steals. Freshman guard
Demarcus Johnson (East Point, GA) was the team's second leading scorer with 10 points, three rebounds, and one steal. Senior guard
Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) also helped clean up the glass with six points and five rebounds while tallying a game-high nine assists.
Scouting LC: After starting the season 5-3, the Dragons have fallen to 5-5 after dropping their last two games, including a 78-72 loss to Albany State University on Saturday evening. Freshman guard Tyler Henry (Brooklyn, NY) led the team in scoring with 16 points, shooting 4-12 from three-point range, while also gathering two steals. Senior guard Daniel Hill (Jackson, TN) scored 12 points and tallied three assists. Junior guard Ariston Jonhson (Alexandria, VA) had 11 points, making three of his seven three pointers while also grabbing three boards.
Dominance in Last Ten: Morehouse has been dominant in their last ten matches against Dragons, maintaining an 8-2 record against Lane College in that time span. The last time the Maroon Tigers played the Dragons was during the 2018-2019 season, where Morehouse beat the Dragons 72-66 in Jackson, TN. In that game, Andrews had a game-high 20 points.
Avoid .500: By winning Monday's game, the Maroon Tigers can avoid falling back to .500 for the first time since November 30
th, when the team sat at 3-3. Beating the Dragons not only improves the Maroon Tigers overall record, but it also helps them maintain their grasp of the Eastern Division as both Albany State and Benedict College lurk closely behind.
Up Next: The Maroon Tigers return to action on Thursday, December 19
th as they return to Forbes Arena to take on the Central State University Marauders in Atlanta, GA. Tip-off is set for 7 P.M.
