ATLANTA, Ga. - The Morehouse College basketball team battled back from a 21-5 deficit in the first half but were defeated by the University of West Georgia, 75-73, on Tuesday evening in Forbes Arena.
The Maroon Tigers record drops to 2-3 on the season while the Wolves break their three game losing streak and improve to 2-5.
MHC trailed the entire first half and the teams went into the locker rooms with UWG leading 40-34. The Wolves got off to a 17-2 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Before the end of the first half, Morehouse was able to close the gap thanks to effective defensive trapping which led to five steals. West Georgia couldn't handle the pressure and ended the half with 10 turnovers.
The second half started off with more stellar defense that led to MHC's first lead with four minutes in 43-42. The rest of the half remained tightly contested from beginning to end.
The Maroon Tigers tried to hang in there, but the Wolves were able to surpass in rebounds, field goal percentage, and assists. UWG had the lead for 14:46 in the half while MHC only had the lead for 3:53.
Turning Point
UWG tied the game when guard Oronte Anderson to found Tate at 13:29 to tie the score 59-59 and went on a run to take a 67-59.

Kevin Powell (Atlanta, GA) was able to finish the game with 12 points while shooting 100 percent from the field and 4 of 6 from the charity stripe. Guard

Chris Brown (Atlanta, GA) were all able to rack up 12 points each.
West Georgia Wolves' Tate finished with 17 points and 8 boards while Anderson chipped in with 16 points and 5 boards.
