Michael Olmert's near double-double led the #3 ranked Morehouse College basketball team to a 62-57 victory over Fort Valley State University Saturday evening in Atlanta, Ga.
The Maroon Tigers held a steady lead for most of the first half and took a 43-39 lead into the locker rooms as Olmert had five assist and four points in the first frame.
Fort Valley State stayed in the game in the second half and took the lead with a little less than eight minutes left, but it was short lived as the MHC full-court press forced turnover after turnover helping Morehouse hold on for the five point win.
Turning Point
Fort Valley State clawed their way back into the game and took a 49-48 lead with 7:23 remaining in the game, but the Maroon Tigers went on a 14-8 the rest of the way for the 62-57 victory.
Individual Leaders
Junior guard
Michael Olmert (Atlanta, GA) finished with a game-high nine assist and 11 points. Senior
Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) had a game-high 12 rebounds and eight points while junior transfer
Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) had a game-high 15 points on hitting threes from behind the arc.
Jaylon McMillan had a team-high 15 points for the Wildcats.
