Omar Alston (Waldorf, MD) and
James Walker (Stone Mountain, GA) helped #15 Morehouse pull out a tough 69-61 victory over Central State University Monday evening in Wilberforce, Ohio.
The Maroon Tigers improve to 9-1, 3-1 SIAC on the season while the Marauders drop to 1-10, 0-6 SIAC.
Morehouse led for most of the first half and took their biggest lead at 30-18 after a steal and layup by Micheal Olmert (Atlanta, GA) with 5:59 remaining in the half. CSU responded and went on a 8-2 run to end the half as MHC went into the locker rooms with a 33-26 halftime lead.
The second half saw Central State take a 43-37 lead with 13:26 remaining before
James Walker went to work with three baskets from behind the arc helping the Maroon Tigers turn the six point deficit to a 14 point lead before pulling out the tough eight point victory.
Alston picked up his seventh double-double of the year as he led Morehouse with a team-high 17 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while dishing out five assist and five steals.
James Walker finished the night with 16 points off the bench while Olmert, the nations No. 4 assist man chipped in with five assist and 12 points. Junior guard
Robert Andrews (Detroit, MI) ended the night with eight points and six rebounds.
The Marauders were led by Dorian Crutcher who finished with a game-high 20 points.
The Maroon Tigers led the points of turnovers battle 34-15 after forcing 26 CSU turnovers. MHC also led the battle of the glass 42-31 while outscoring the Central State bench 25-13.
Morehouse breaks for the Christmas holiday and returns to action on Saturday, December 29, as they travel to Salisbury, N.C. to take on CIAA foe Livingstone College. Tip is set for 4 p.m. ET.
