Morehouse Extends Streak to Seven Straight

Tyrius Walker exploded for 35 points and powered the Maroon Tigers to a 77-69 win over the Miles College Golden Bears. The win lifts Morehouse to 7-0 and ties the 1988-89 team for the best start in school history.  
 
Walker sank 11 of 22 shots from the field, including four three-pointers. The scoring outburst surpassed his career high of 33 points, which he reached twice last season. He also hit 9 of 12 free throws, hauled in eight rebounds and collected three steals and two blocked shots.
 
Walker did most of his scoring in the second half, where he poured in 26 points.
 
In the first half, the Tigers trailed by as many as 12 points, but clawed their way back to a 29-27 deficit.
 
In the second half, Morehouse regained the lead and held it for most of the way, but never by more than 10 points, in an error-filled game that saw 38 turnovers.
 
Omar Alston posted his third double-double of the season, with 12 points and 13 rebounds. His game-high rebounds helped Morehouse to a 44-37 rebounding advantage.
 
Martravious Little chipped in nine points and Jordan Wallace added six points.
 
Five Golden Bears put up double figures, led by Jeffrey Dockett, with 15 points, as Miles dropped to 1-6, for the year.
 
The Maroon Tigers return to home action, Saturday, at 3 p.m., when the Paine College Lions come to Forbes Arena.
