Maduegbunam Wins SIAC Player of Week Award

December 12, 2016 – ATLANTA – Morehouse forward Duby Maduegbunam was named the SIAC Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in Saturday's come-from-behind, 80-74, win against the Lane College Dragons.

Maduegbunam, a 6-5, 205-pound sophomore from Boston, is playing in his first season at Morehouse. He is second-best on the team, in scoring at 15.3 ppg, and rebounding at 6.5 rbg. In the first week of the season, he was named the SIAC Newcomer of the Week.

In the Lane game, Maduegbunam shot 7 of 13 from the field and 9 of 15 from the free-throw line, for a career-high 26 points. He hauled in a Morehouse season-high 14 rebounds and posted his second double-double of the year. The versatile swingman added three assists, two steals and a block. 

Maduegbunam did most of his damage after intermission, scoring 18 points and grabbing eight rebounds. His efforts helped the Maroon Tigers claw their way back from a 16-point second-half deficit.

The win gives Morehouse the best overall record in the SIAC (6-2; 1-0). It also moved the Maroon Tigers up one spot from last week, to #6, in the D2SIDA South Region Basketball Media Poll, conducted by regional sports information directors.
