December 3, 2013 – ATLANTA – Austin Anderson scored 21 points and two other Maroon Tigers scored in double figures, but it wasn't enough to keep Morehouse from losing, 84-75, to the University of West Georgia Wolves.

Morehouse fell to 2-3; the Wolves pulled to 7-1.

Anderson went 7-of-13 from the field, with four three-pointers, and 3-of-4 from the line. His three-pointer, to start the game, gave Morehouse a brief lead. After that it was all uphill for the Tigers who trailed most of the game, including 38-28 at halftime.

The Wolves lead ballooned to 16 points midway through the second period, before the Tigers rallied to close it to six points, with seven minutes remaining.

That was as close as Morehouse would get. The Wolves put a 22-13 second-half rebounding edge to good use, converting it to a 13-2 second-chance-points advantage.

Robert Askew hit 5-of-6 shots from the field and the free-throw line, to finish with 15 points. David Buchannon poured in 10 points, to go with five rebounds, three assists and three steals. Joshua Simmons scored six points and hauled in five rebounds.

Tyrone Brown, Morehouse's leading rebounder, topped all players with 10 rebounds and scored eight points.

Ryan Godfrey led the Wolves, with 26 points. Godfrey hit 8-of-11 shots, including 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Stephan Thomas had 19 points and nine rebounds and Lavon Gray chipped in 11 points.

Morehouse travels to CIAA country Thursday-Saturday, to face Livingstone College and Elizabeth City State University. The Tigers are 1-1 against CIAA teams this season, beating Virginia Union 70-64, and losing to Johnson C. Smith 73-66.

The Maroon Tigers return to Forbes Arena, December 16, at 7:30 p.m., to tangle with Palm Beach Atlantic University.
