January 10, 2013 -- ATLANTA -- Shawn Allen hit two free throws with eight seconds left to preserve a Morehouse lead and propelled the Maroon Tigers to a 59-56 win over the Miles College Golden Bears.

Morehouse led from wire-to-wire but could never pull far away from the scrappy Golden Bears.

The Tigers won the game from the free-throw line, going 10-of-14 overall, and 6-of-6 down the stretch. Allen hit all four of his attempts in the last four minutes and grabbed six rebounds, while handing out five assists.

Andrae Nelson bounced back from a sub par game against Stillman Monday, hitting 9-of-10 shots, for a game-high 18 points and pulling down a game-high seven rebounds.

Jonathan Tassin hit his four free throw attempts and finished with 11 points.

Former football player Darrius Williams contributed 10 points, four rebounds and five assists.

Stephon Allen (14 pts.) and Jeremy Brooks (10) paced the Bears, who fell to 3-9 (0-4 SIAC).

It was the fourth straight win for the Maroon Tigers who have improved from 1-5 to 5-5 (3-0 SIAC).

Starting tomorrow at 7 a.m., Morehouse embarks on a four-day, two-game road trip to Memphis and Jackson, TN.
