Tigers Lose to Thorobreds in Overtime

February 25, 2012 – FRANKFORT, KY – The Maroon Tigers ended the season on a sour note, falling in overtime, 75-68, to the Kentucky State Thorobreds.

 

Morehouse led 29-25 at the half and by 10, midway through the second half, but let the game slip away.

 

In the final seconds of regulation, Morehouse had three chances to break the 58-58 tie.

 

With 20 seconds left, Daniyal Faquir missed a three point attempt and Tevin Mgbo grabbed the rebound. Following a Morehouse timeout, Shawn Allen missed a layup and Andrae Nelson grabbed by the rebound, but the follow-up missed the mark.

 

Instead the Thorobreds out-scored the Tigers 17-10 in the overtime period and dropped Morehouse to 8-18 (8-16 SIAC).

 

Allen led all scorers with 23 points, on 7-of-14 shooting from the field and 7-of-13 from the line. He added eight rebounds.

 

Nelson grabbed a game-high 17 rebounds, and scored 20 points, on 8-of-18 shooting.

 

Mario Farris hit 9-of-18 shots, for 20 points, hauled down three rebounds, handed out four assists.

 

Three Thorobreds scored in double figures, led by Troy Adams, who had 22 points and seven rebounds, to push KSU to 12-14 (12-12 SIAC).
