December 4, 2010 – BIRMINGHAM, AL – Morehouse continued its road skid, with a 78-64 loss to the Miles College Golden Bears.
Including an exhibition loss at Talladega, the Maroon Tigers have lost all three of their games on the road and fell to 1-4 (1-2 SIAC).
Morehouse jumped out to an early seven-point lead, but Miles responded with a 22-10 run, to end the half leading 37-22.
The Maroon Tigers shot better in the second half, but could only shave one point off the first half deficit.
One difference in the game is that Miles shot a much higher percentage than Morehouse -- 61 percent to 44 percent. The Bears also shot better from beyond the arc, 8-of-13, compared to 2-of-11 for Morehouse.
Fresh off his late game heroics in Thursday's win over Claflin, Roderick Williams was a perfect 6-of-6 from the field and led Morehouse in scoring with 15 points. The senior captain also chipped in four rebounds and two assists.
With his best scoring game of the season, Jelani Figures tallied 13 points, on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line.
David Buchannon was the only other Tiger in double figures. The junior transfer from Marion, IN, connected on 3-of-4 from the field and 3-of-3 from the charity stripe.
Four Golden Bears recorded double-figure scoring, led by Rahim Barnes and Marcus Coleman, who scored 17 points apiece. Miles improved to 2-3 (1-3 SIAC).
The Tigers will hibernate until January 3, when they travel to Augusta, to take on the Paine College Lions.
