A Father's Day Message from Athletic Director Harold Ellis

Dear Morehouse Athletics Family,

On this Father's Day, I would like to take a moment to recognize and thank the fathers and father figures who help make Morehouse Athletics a special place for our student-athletes.

At Morehouse College, our mission is to develop men with disciplined minds who will lead lives of leadership and service. While that mission is carried out in classrooms across campus, it is also lived every day on our practice fields, in our locker rooms, in our training facilities, and in our offices. Much of that work is accomplished through the guidance, mentorship, and example provided by the fathers and father figures who serve our department and our institution.

I am fortunate to work alongside coaches, administrators, athletic trainers, facilities staff, professors, support personnel, and mentors who understand that their responsibilities extend far beyond the jobs listed on their business cards. Every day, they invest their time, energy, and wisdom into the lives of our student-athletes. They teach accountability, integrity, resilience, and respect. They celebrate successes, provide encouragement during challenges, and help our young men grow into the leaders they are called to become.

Many of these individuals are fathers themselves. They bring the same commitment, compassion, patience, and sacrifice that they show their own families into their work with our students. Others serve as father figures, stepping into mentorship roles that leave lasting impressions on the lives of those they encounter. Their influence often reaches far beyond a season, a championship, or even a college career.

As a department, we are blessed to be surrounded by people who understand that leadership is rooted in service. The lessons our student-athletes learn from these men are often the same lessons that have been passed down through generations of fathers: work hard, treat others with respect, honor your commitments, and always strive to leave a place better than you found it.

I also want to thank the fathers throughout our extended Morehouse Athletics family—our alumni, supporters, season ticket holders, donors, volunteers, and parents. Your investment in our students and programs helps create opportunities that change lives. Your example demonstrates the importance of giving back and ensuring that future generations have the tools they need to succeed.

Today, we celebrate not only fatherhood, but also the spirit of mentorship that has long been a hallmark of the Morehouse experience. The relationships built here help shape young men into leaders who are prepared to serve their communities, their professions, and their families.

On behalf of Morehouse Athletics, thank you to every father and father figure who pours into the lives of others. Your leadership, sacrifice, and example continue to strengthen our department and advance the mission of Morehouse College.

Happy Father's Day!

Harold Ellis
