PEACHTREE CITY, GA | The Morehouse College Maroon Tigers wrapped up their season at the 2025 Cricket SIAC Men's Tennis Championship this past weekend, falling in both the semifinal round and the consolation match held at the Peachtree City Tennis Center.
In the semifinal matchup on Friday against second-seeded Spring Hill College, the Maroon Tigers fought valiantly but came up short in a 4-0 decision. Despite strong effort across the board, Morehouse was unable to secure a match victory before the competition was clinched by Spring Hill. Caleb Owens, Santiago Soto, and Emmett Hill each dropped singles matches in straight sets, while the top doubles pairing of Jackson McIlwain and Jeremy Samuel battled to a hard-fought tie before play was halted.
Returning to action on Saturday for the third-place consolation match, Morehouse faced off against Benedict College. The Tigers once again showed determination, but ultimately fell 5-1. The bright spot came in singles play as freshman Braxton Broady notched the lone point for Morehouse with a win in the No. 1 singles slot. Emmett Hill and Santiago Soto teamed up to secure a doubles victory in the No. 3 position, but Benedict clinched the doubles point with wins at the top two pairings.
Individually, Broady stood out over the weekend with his victory in the top singles match against Benedict and consistent play in doubles. Emmett Hill also contributed with a doubles win and a tightly contested singles match that ended unfinished.
With the losses, Morehouse concludes its season with a final overall record of 3-11. Though the Maroon Tigers fell short of the podium at the SIAC Championship, the tournament featured several competitive performances that provide a solid foundation for next season's returners. Head Coach Terry Alexander, Assistant Coach Gerard Ladson, and the program will look to build on these experiences as they prepare for 2026.
