Maroon Tigers Get Off On Good Foot

September 7, 2013 – AMERICUS, GA – The Flying Maroon Tigers got off on the good foot, with a second-place finish in the Remembrance Run cross country meet, hosted by Georgia Southwestern University.

Morehouse finished behind Georgia Regents, but ahead of seven other schools, in the 8K season opener. (See Full Stats)

The strong showing by the Maroon Tigers, the defending SIAC champions, demonstrates why Morehouse was ranked #8 in the preseason South Region poll.

Dahir Mohamed set the pace for Morehouse, finishing first for the Tigers and fourth overall, in a time of 26:10.28.

For his outstanding effort, Dahir, a Morehouse newcomer from San Diego, CA, earned the SIAC Runner of the Week award.

Christopher Wilder (26:50.00), a stalwart on last year's team, crossed the line second for the Tigers and 10th overall.

Jeffrey McClain (27:02.00) and Kasahun Neselu (27:06.71) finished back to back, capturing the third and fourth spots for Morehouse and 12th and 13th positions overall.

Nicholas Hall (27:37.24) grabbed the final scoring spot for Morehouse, finishing 23rd overall.

Gerald Jones, Blake Bufford, Christian Dixon, Devan Daniel and Christopher Morris also competed for Morehouse, finishing in that order, but out of the scoring.

The Maroon Tigers will travel to Huntsville, AL, Saturday, to compete in the Fleet Feet Sports/Earl Jacoby meet, hosted by Alabama A&M University.
